A Juried Exhibition · NYC Jewelry Week 2026
We are seeking artwork that explores holes.
The Premise
Rabbit Hole is a juried exhibition organized by three MFA candidates at East Carolina University. Bringing together artists from a range of disciplines, the exhibition began with a simple question: What is a hole?
From physical openings to conceptual gaps, artists are invited to interpret the prompt in their own way. Through these varied perspectives, Rabbit Hole brings together works that reveal just how expansive a simple idea can become.
Rabbit Hole is a juried exhibition inviting artists to consider holes in all their forms — literal, metaphorical, material, or conceptual. We encourage submissions that explore voids, portals, thresholds, negative space, or something we haven't thought of.
Work in all media is welcome. Rabbit Hole is an in-person juried exhibition occurring during New York City Jewelry Week, November 16–22, 2026.

Jurors
Denton is an interdisciplinary artist working in metal, fiber, and installation. She received a B.S. in Writing from Grand Valley State University and is currently pursuing an MFA in Studio Art at East Carolina University. Her work investigates how objects prompt intimacy and desire, drawing on queer theory to explore the ethical relationships that emerge between bodies, materials, and viewers.
Metalsmith and interdisciplinary artist whose practice enacts becoming through repetitive acts of making. B.F.A. in Metalsmithing and Jewelry from the University of Kansas; currently a second-year M.F.A. candidate in Metals Design at East Carolina University. Works across jewelry, sculpture, and installation, investigating how time, material, and accumulated labor continually negotiate and reshape our experience of becoming.
Morgan Hesse is an interdisciplinary artist working in photography, fiber, sculpture, and installation. Hesse received her Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in Photography from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and is currently pursuing her Masters in Fine Arts at East Carolina University. Her work explores memory, inherited histories, and the ways personal and collective narratives are preserved, altered, and reconstructed over time.
On Holes
Holes show up everywhere — in objects, bodies, landscapes, systems, and language. They can be openings or closures, accidents or intentions, interruptions, or pathways. A hole might be something you look into, pass through, avoid, or try to fill. It might be visible or implied, real or imagined.
